MARIETTA, Ohio – Otterbein ran its winning streak to four games Saturday afternoon with a road victory at Marietta, opening a quick lead and never looking back en route to an 11-5 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory.
The Cardinals improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to an opposite 1-4 mark within the league.
THE SCRIPT:
- Max Kott, Logan Fenech, Xander Seal and Nick Wile led a balanced scoring attack in the first quarter.
Â
- Fenech and Kott found the back of the next again in the second quarter, sandwiched around a goal by Ben Lewis, to ultimately take a 7-1 lead at intermission.
Â
- Marietta scored a pair to begin the second half, keeping things interesting at 7-3, but another goal from Wile and then Fenech securing a hat trick kept Otterbein ahead.
Â
- The Cards maintained that lead throughout the fourth quarter, which was punctuated by a man-down goal from defenseman Mitchel Rolfe.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Marietta won 14 of 18 faceoffs on the day, but went just 1 of 8 on extra-man opportunities and gave the ball away 26 times. Otterbein's Trey Bialowas caused four of those turnovers.
Â
- In addition to his two scores, Wile corralled a game-high six ground balls.
Â
- Otterbein goalie Zach Groene made 11 saves in the cage, his second game in double digits this season.
