NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Cardinal Softball earned a Saturday split against Muskingum, dropping game one 9-7 and coming back for a win in game two by a final of 5-1.
The road trip split moves the Cardinals to 7-3 on the year while the Muskies now sit at 4-6 ahead of tomorrows action.
GAME ONE:
- Maria Herron got the afternoon started for the Cards blasting a two-run home run in her first at bat plating Sage Jenkins.

- Muskingum rallied though, scoring seven runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth.

- Otterbein put the pressure on in the seventh, with Isabelle Fisher starting the rally with a SAC fly. Katrina Wierzbicki added a two RBI double followed by a Herron RBI single, and a Hannah Dobrinick RBI single.

- The Muskies ended the hopes of a comeback though, and handed the Cardinals their third loss of the season.

- Jess Gunter endured the loss, just her first of the season making her now 3-1 in the circle.

GAME TWO:
- Herron did some more damage early on in game two, breaking a scoreless tie in the third inning with a two RBI double to left field.

- The Muskies answered in their chance to bat, scoring their only run of the game on a Riley Powers RBI single up the middle.

- Otterbein added on in the fifth when Savannah McCoppin came home on a wild pitch and Fisher brought around two runs in the sixth with a single to center field.
Â
- Brook Crosby earned the win to move to 3-0 in her freshman campaign, while Fisher and Herron each recorded two RBIs to lead the Cards.

Otterbein will return home Sunday for more doubleheader action with the Muskies. Game times are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
