BEREA, Ohio – The Otterbein men's soccer team walked away with a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon at Baldwin Wallace, as neither side could find the back of the net over 110 minutes of action at George Finnie Stadium.
The Cardinals, now 1-1-1 on the year, finished with a nice shot advantage but host Yellow Jackets found a way to keep the final score locked at 0-0. BW is now 0-1-2 overall this spring.
Otterbein held a 21-6 edge in total shots by the end of regulation, only to see Baldwin Wallace goalkeepers Matt Weaver and JT Brenneman combine for eight saves and then another in the extra session.
The Cards ultimately settled with a 25-9 shot margin (9-4 on goal) and took 11 corner kicks compared to just five on the home side. Goalie
Andrew McIlvoy made four stops in between the pipes.
Otterbein had won the last three matchups in the series between the schools by a combined score of 10-3. Four of the past nine showdown have gone into extra time.
Thursday will bring another opportunity for the Cardinals, traveling back up to the Cleveland area for a date with John Carroll. It will be a rematch of the most recent OAC Tournament championship in 2019.
