WILMINGTON, Ohio – Otterbein and Wilmington went head-to-head for the second time this season, this time in Ohio Athletic Conference play, with the Quakers taking a pair of games from the Cardinals.
The sweep drops Otterbein to 8-14 overall and 5-13 in OAC play while the Quakers improve to an even 11-11 and 10-8 in OAC action.
GAME ONE:
The first inning of the day came much earlier than anticipated, due to rain in the forecast, but both sides came ready to play. The first inning saw five runs scored, three in the top for Otterbein and a two-score answer from the Quakers in their half.
After the high scoring first inning both pitchers settled in for a scoreless second and third inning. In the top of the fourth though Otterbein tacked on another score with a
Katrina Wierzbicki RBI double.
Wilmington rallied to tie things up at four in the sixth inning and eventually plated the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

GAME TWO:
Otterbein was held to just five hits as the Quakers controlled the game in the circle. Wilmington scored once in the third, loaded the bases in the fourth to plate three more and wrapped things up in the fifth pulling ahead 5-0.
Erin Vonderwell made her first appearance in the circle this season, pitching one inning, in relief of
Jess Gunter. She gave up one hit to the four batters she faced.
UP NEXT:
Both sides will return to action tomorrow afternoon in Westerville with a normal doubleheader start time of 1 p.m.
