Men's Lacrosse Wins 15-3 in New Concord

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Otterbein men's lacrosse team nabbed another conference victory Saturday afternoon, breezing to a 15-3 triumph on the road at Muskingum.

The Cardinals, winning the first matchup against the Muskies (10-5) earlier this spring in Westerville, sweep the season series and improve to a solid 8-2 overall… 6-1 against the OAC.

Otterbein led just 4-2 after the opening quarter, but kept Muskingum off the scoreboard in the second frame while adding another three goals to its total. The Cards received multiple scores from Marco Cuda and Aidan Moore in the first half while the defense forced 10 turnovers, three coming by Jordan Tobler.

The Cards blew open their 7-2 halftime lead as the third quarter progressed, netting another five goals (all part of an 11-0 run in the contest) to never look back.

Otterbein's defense kept a fourth-straight opponent under 10 goals, including the last three at three or fewer. Three Cardinals finished with multiple caused turnovers on the afternoon, with goalie Zach Groene making eight stops in the cage.

Five players tallied multiple points for the always-balanced attack, headlined by Moore's five and another four (2G, 2A) courtesy of reigning OAC Offensive Player of the Week Xander Seal. Cuda had three while Nawny Bailey and Cole Werbrich also enjoyed nice days.

Otterbein finished with a 46-21 shot advantage and was a perfect 20 of 20 on clear attempts. Eddie McDonald led the way at the X, going 8 for 11 on faceoff chances.

The Cards will have a pair of home games coming up this next week, hosting Marietta (Wednesday) and Mount Union (Saturday). Otterbein is currently tied for second place in the league standings.
