NEW CONCORD, Ohio – An overtime goal by sophomore
Liam Heard helped Otterbein escape with a much-needed road victory Monday night, as the Cardinals overcame adversity to emerge 3-2 against host Muskingum.
The Cardinals, leading 2-0 at intermission, absorbed a valiant comeback attempt by the Muskies before prevailing just two minutes into the extra session. As a result, Otterbein gets back to even on the season at 3-3-1 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein scored twice in the opening half, getting goals via a pair of freshmen in Mark Wischmeyer (16:45) and Dominic Antronica (39:08). The Cardinals held a 9-5 shot advantage at the break.

- Muskingum admirably regrouped and applied pressure throughout the second period, slicing the deficit in half during the 58th minute on a score from Trevor Firkel.

- The hosts then tallied an equalizer to force overtime with under three minutes left in regulation as Edwin Palou found the back of the net.

- Otterbein regrouped to ultimately escape, as Heard scored off an assist by classmate Coby Stover to begin the 92nd minute.

- The contest marked Otterbein's fourth overtime match of the season, where the Cardinals are 2-1-1 in the format.

- Aside from the season opener (a 3-1 victory over Mount Union), the other six contests for Otterbein have all been decided by just one goal.
