FINAL RESULTS

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's track and field team walked away from the Division III All-Ohio Championships in third place collectively Saturday afternoon, following 18 scored events at the Clements Recreation Center.

The Cardinals, back to serving as meet host once again after last year's didn't take place, had a group total of 61 points to finish behind Mount Union and Oberlin. Ohio Wesleyan (50) and Baldwin Wallace (45) completed the top-five teams in the standings.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
  • Gracie Dennison continued stealing the show on the straightaway, this time improving her own school record (and becoming the All-Ohio champ in the process) with a blazing 8.85 seconds in the 60 hurdles. That currently ranks No. 5 nationally this season.

  • Dennison also struck a new PR in the flat 60, blazing to a 7.84 and coming in only behind Mount Union's Kenadee Wayt, who set a meet record with 7.67 seconds.

  • Amanda Radke actually got things started last week in the All-Ohio Multis/Combined, taking third place in the pentathlon with 2282 points. Of the five events, she won both jumps and took second in the shot put.

  • Both sprint relays grabbed runner-up medals. The 4x2 strung together a season-best time (1:47.53) as Lydia Baumgartner, Gracie Dennison, Coree Gifford and Emma Klosterman exchanged the baton in a second-place effort. They narrowly edged out Ohio Wesleyan by .002 seconds for the runner-up spot…

  • At day's end, the 4x4 of Cassidy Shaver, Coree Gifford, Brooke Caldwell and Baumgartner combined for a 4:14 to only settle behind the Purple Raiders.

  • Baumgartner also received a medal in the 200 meters, working the curve in 26.39 for a new PR and third-place result. She remains sixth all-time in program history.

  • Klosterman just missed the podium in the long jump, settling in fourth place after a best leap of 5.25 meters (17-2 ¾).

  • Halle Bentley scored a pair of points in the 5K, crossing the line in seventh place.

  • Gifford (400 meters) and Shaver (800 meters) both earned a point for the club with eighth-place efforts.

MOVING AHEAD:
  • Otterbein will have a couple weeks to prepare for the OAC Indoor Championships (at Mount Union) later this month. In the meantime, the Cards are scheduled to visit the Steemer Showcase at Wittenberg.
