WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior Day was a smooth success for the Otterbein women's basketball team, which used another strong second half to pull away and beat visiting Mount Union (63-47) inside a fun Rike Center.

The Cardinals, completing the sweep of Mount this season, conclude the regular season at 18-6 overall and a crisp 12-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC). Otterbein will be the No. 4 seed in next week's postseason tournament and host No. 5 Ohio Northern come Tuesday evening.

THE SCRIPT:
  • Neither side could muster offense early, with the score tied 6-6 near the end of the first quarter.

  • Both teams began settling in moving across into the second, becoming the highest-scoring frame of the day with 37 total points.

  • Multiple lead changes took place in the one-possession exchange, and Otterbein eventually carried a 31-29 lead into the break after a Raider jump-shot beat the buzzer.

  • The Cardinals dominated the second half, winning the third quarter 17-6 and forcing Mount Union into shooting 4 of 25 after intermission.

  • Seniors Jenna Hoschouer and Kathleen DeCarlo left to a nice ovation in the closing minute, as they were recognized pregame along with student manager Erin McKenna.
