ALBION, Michigan – The Otterbein Men's Lacrosse team kicked off its 2022 campaign Sunday afternoon in Michigan, unfortunately falling to the Britons of Albion College by a 13-5 final.

Albion moves to 2-0 on the young season while the Cards begin their opening three-game trip away from campus on the low end. Otterbein's next two games wll be at NCAC foes Wooster and Kenyon before a spring break trip to Clearwater, Florida.

WHAT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein started the day nicely by jumping out to a 2-0 lead, with goals coming from veterans Dekaider Jackson and Nawny Bailey.

- Albion eventually settled in, netting five unanswered goals stretching well into the second quarter.

- Senior Nick Clay, back in action after a long layoff, finally broke the Cardinal drought with 9:46 until the half. However, the Britons regrouped to hit the locker room on a 2-0 run.

- The Brits carried that momentum into the second half, outscored Otterbein 6-2 coming on a pair of separate three-goal runs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

- The hosts won 14 of 19 faceoffs and ended the day with a doubled-up shot advantage of 53-26.

- Zach Groene went the distance between the pipes with 20 saves, just two shy of his career-best 22 (against Wittenberg) back in 2020.

- Five different players netted scores for the Cardinals. Jackson paced the offense with three points on a goal and two assists.

- Otterbein went just 1 of 7Â on extra-man opportunities.
