WOOSTER, Ohio – A second-half surge by the host Fighting Scots doomed Otterbein Saturday afternoon in non-conference action, as Wooster pulled away to hand the Cardinals an 8-4 loss on a chilly day at John P. Papp Stadium.
HOW IT PLAYED OUT:
- The visiting Cardinals jumped ahead 2-0 from the gate, receiving a pair of early goals off the stick of Aidan Moore near the end of the first quarter. Ty Forney set up the second score.
Â
- Wooster settled in and drew even in the second, notching a man-down goal to begin the frame and then converting a man-up situation just a few minutes later.
Â
- Moore helped push his team back in front bridging intermission, scoring in the closing minutes before halftime and then again at the 10:25 mark of the third.
Â
- The Fighting Scots then kicked into gear, erasing that 4-2 deficit by rattling off a 5-0 run from that point forward. Wooster scored two within a minute to equalize, and then had another two find the back of the net within 45 seconds later on as the final quarter began.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Moore had all four goals for Otterbein, which unfortunately didn't score over the final 25:25 of regulation.
Â
- Wooster captured 10 of 15 faceoffs.
Â
- Both man-down units were solid, as the two teams combined to go just 1 for 9 on extra-man opportunities.
Â
- Otterbein finished with a slight 37-35 edge in total shots.
Â
- Ben Kennedy and Charlie Ballou enjoyed multi-score games for the Fighting Scots.
