Women's T&F Lands in Sixth Place at OAC Championships

FINAL RESULTS

BEREA, Ohio – Friday's weather at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Championships was anything but desirable, as consistent rain and heavy winds left a wet competition surface for all 10 schools converging once again at/around George Finnie Stadium on the campus of Baldwin Wallace.

In the end, the Cardinals walked away in sixth place as a team thanks to a handful of strong competitors in multiple events across the two days. Senior Gracie Dennison led the charge once again, representing 24 of Otterbein's 55 collective points.

Mount Union won the team crown while John Carroll took second by almost 60 points back. Here's how the day played out for Otterbein:
  • The 4x1 relay opened the running portion at 3 p.m. Dennison, Coree Gifford, Emma Klosterman and Lydia Baumgartner combined to run 50.59, resting in fifth place.

  • Dennison won the OAC crown in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.77, edging a pair of Mount Union standouts (Kennady Gibbins and Michaela Terranova) by less than .02 seconds.

  • Gifford ran 1:02.14 in the 400 meters, taking sixth place but also crossing as the first runner not wearing Mount Union gear.

  • Dennison turned around less than a half-hour after her hurdles triumph to hit the podium in the 100 meters, taking third in 12.48 seconds for another six in the team standings

  • Klosterman leapt to runner-up status in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.56 meters (roughly 5-1) to come in behind Gibbins. She also scored points in the triple jump by taking seventh.

  • Dennison continued racking up points toward Otterbein's total in the 200 meters, covering the race in 25.84 for a fifth-place effort.

  • Ravyn Goodson took 11th place in the shot put while a handful of others were just on the fringe of scoring for the group.

  • The final event of the meet (4x4 relay) went off around 6 p.m. Gifford, Cassidy Shaver, Angela Maio and Manaka Yamauchi teamed for a 4:18 and change, also settling fifth like the 4x1 group.
UP NEXT:
Select Cardinals will take on a handful of Last Chance Meets in order to qualify (or improve ranking) heading into the NCAA Championships, conveniently hosted this spring at SPIRE Institute in Geneva.
