Three Placers Lead Otterbein at ONU Invitational

FULL RESULTS

ADA, Ohio – The Otterbein men's wrestling team got back into action cross a full Saturday of bouts at the annual Ohio Northern Invitational, returning to the mat following a near three-week layoff bridging the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Cardinals were led by a trio of placers in Tamas Eder (fifth) at 133 pounds, Cale Callahan at 165 (fifth) and Gary Steele taking eighth place in the 184 division. The trio went a combined 11-6 en route to all hitting the podium.

Michael Eckelberry finished 3-2 at 165 pounds to achieve a winning day, and now stands 6-3 on the year.

Andrew Sas (141), Nathan Leko (149), Austin Amens (157), Bo Branson (157), Jacob Williams (165), Logan Cormell (174), Josh Taylor (174), Billy Reed-Bodey and Zac Stray all had multiple wins, including Stray going 3-2 in the heavyweight division.

Plenty of other Cards took the mat in various divisions, patiently competing across an event that saw a 90-minute delay with technical/scoring system difficulties.

Otterbein also finished eighth of 14 schools in the team standings.

UP NEXT:

The Cardinals will get back into OAC action next Sunday afternoon, traveling up north to John Carroll for a league dual at 12 p.m.
