WESTERVILLE, Ohio – It was a tough afternoon for the Otterbein men's lacrosse team at Memorial Stadium, as Wooster pulled away in the second half to notch a 13-3 decision.
HOW IT WENT DOWN:
- The Fighting Scots won the opening faceoff and scored almost immediately to capture momentum. Otterbein settled in, though, with a man-up goal from Carson Rainone and later tied the game again (2-2) midway through the second quarter on a shot from Marcus Wright.
Â
- Wooster took a 3-2 lead into the break after Will Fink found teammate Luke Budd for a timely score.
Â
- The Cards didn't score in the third but still only trailed 5-2 entering the final quarter. However, Wooster found a groove with a quick 6-0 run to begin the frame and never looked back.
Â
STATS THAT MATTERED:
- Wooster captured all 20 faceoffs on the day, including an 11 of 11 effort from Rory Zahren.
Â
- Fink and Lane Kellogg each netted a hat trick for the visitors, who stay perfect after topping Westminster in their recent season opener.
Â
- Luke Farthing, reigning OAC Defensive Player of the Week, did what he could with 14 saves. Wooster fired 53 shots and held a 27-9 margin on goal.
Â
- Shep Marty and Lincoln Troxell both caused three turnovers on the Otterbein defensive end.
