WESTERVILLE, Ohio – A massive double-double from junior
Maizie King guided five Cardinals in double figures on Wednesday night, as Otterbein completed its season sweep of Wilmington en route to an 81-66 final at the Rike Center.
King tied for a game-high 23 points and led everyone with 14 rebounds, coming on an efficient 11 of 17 shooting effort from the field. She also had two blocks across her 31 minutes.
Otterbein gets within one game of .500 in OAC play as a result and is now tied for fifth with John Carroll in the league standings.
KEY STRETCHES:
- The game was tied 10-10 late in the first quarter but a nice 16-5 spurt by the Cardinals manufactured a double-digit lead for the home side. Otterbein later settled for a seven-point lead at the break.

- The third quarter remained a 2-3 possession game most of the frame, although the Cards did lead by 10 at one point before seeing just a six-point cushion to begin the fourth.

- A massive final period allowed Otterbein to bust the game open, scoring 27 points collectively in beginning the quarter on a 13-2 run. Another 9-2 stretch across the final minutes left no doubt in the outcome.

BOX SCORE NOTABLES:
- Katie McCrary added 13 points and five steals across 18 minutes. Kyla Irby (13), Ella Nagel (11) and Claire Radabaugh (10) chipped in nicely for a well-rounded effort on both sides of the floor.

- Otterbein shot 73% in the final quarter and 49% for the game. Wilmington was just 30% on the other end.

- A game littered with whistles saw 48 fouls called over the 40 minutes of actual game time. That resulted in a combined 53 free-throw attempts.|

- The Cardinals held a sizeable scoring edges on the fast break (25-9), off the bench (28-9) and in the paint (38-30).

- Cassidy Lovett matched King for a game-high 23 points and also led her team with six boards.

SATURDAY LATE NIGHT:
- Otterbein heads up to Berea for a stiff challenge against league-leading Baldwin Wallace on Saturday evening, a game that will tip at 7 p.m. The Cards narrowly lost a 56-53 battle with BW earlier this season.
