Goals from Boettcher, Lord, Ely lead Men's Soccer to 3-0 win at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — Goals from junior Drew Boettcher, sophomore Josh Lord and graduate student Carter Ely powered the Otterbein men's soccer team to a decisive 3-0 victory at Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin Wallace on Saturday night.

The Game
  • Boettcher opened the scoring in the 36th minute, finishing a long assist from junior Colm Oneacre, who launched the ball from the 39-yard line to set up Boettcher's shot.
  • Lord doubled Otterbein's lead in the 40th minute, slotting a long-range shot from the 12-yard line into the bottom left corner.
  • Otterbein led 2-0 at halftime and entered the break with a 5-1 edge in shots on goal, and 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. 
  • In the second half, Ely capped the scoring at 3-0, receiving a cross from senior Nick Isaac for an easy tap-in right in front of the goal in the 59th minute.
  • Freshman Jason Villalobos played all 90 minutes in goal for Otterbein and recorded four saves in the shutout.
  • Baldwin Wallace out-shot Otterbein by a 20-11 margin, but the Cardinals held a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. The Cardinals finished with a slim 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
