POWELL, Ohio & TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Otterbein women's cross country team faced tough competition as a split squad at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals and Ohio Wesleyan Invitational on Friday night. Sophomore Sarah Scarborough led the way for the Cardinals at Pre-Nationals, and four Otterbein runners posted personal-best times, marking a strong showing as the team continues its season.
The Basics
- The OWU Invitational was a 6K race held at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio. The meet consisted of a mix of NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and club teams.
- The Division III Pre-Nationals was a 6K race held at LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Ind., which is the site of this season's NCAA Division III Championship meet. Otterbein competed in the College Championship division, which was open to the top 46 teams in the Pre-Nationals Team Rankings.
Race Results - OWU Invitational
- The Cardinals had one runner in the meet with freshman Eliza McDonald placing 97th overall in the 176-woman field with a time of 25:43. Otterbein did not post a team score.
- Overall, NCAA Division III Ohio Wesleyan was first with 44 points, followed by NCAA Division III Allegheny with 54 points.
- Division II Ashland's Lily Dowdell was first overall in 22:03, and Division II Findlay's Hailey Wilson was second in 22:19.

- In the overall standings, the Cardinals scored 598 points and placed 20th of 44 teams.
- Overall, Massachusetts Institute of Technology was first with 56 points, followed by University of Chicago with 145 points.
