WESTERVILLE – Otterbein freshman goalkeeper
Jason Villalobos was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
This marks the fourth time Villalobos has earned the accolade this season.
The latest recognition comes after he recorded a pair of shutouts as Otterbein and a combined 12 saves as Otterbein won 1-0 at John Carroll on Wednesday and 4-0 over Heidelberg on Saturday to close out the regular season as the No. 3 seed for the OAC Tournament. He had 10 saves at John Carroll and added two more against Heidelberg.
On the season, Villalobos boasts an OAC-leading 11 shutouts, including in each of his past three games, to go with 62 saves and a 0.89 GAA.
The Cardinals (10-6-2 overall) are set to host sixth-seeded Wilmington on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the first round of the OAC Tournament.
