Scarborough shines as Women's Cross Country places 5th at All-Ohio Intercollegiate Classic

CEDARVILLE –  Sophomore Sarah Scarborough finished second in NCAA Division III and fourth overall to lead the Otterbein women's cross country team at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Classic on Friday evening. The Cardinals placed fifth in the Division III team standings and 11th overall.

The Basics 
  • The event was a 6K race held at Elvin R. King Cross Country Course in Cedarville, Ohio.
  • The meet consisted of NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and club teams.
  • The meet was scored in four categories: Division I, Division II/NAIA, Division III and overall.
Race Results 
  • In the overall standings, the Cardinals scored 307 points and placed 11th out of 25 teams.
  • In the Division III standings, the Cardinals scored 143 points and placed fifth out of 13 teams. 
  • NCAA DII Cedarville placed first in the overall standings with 37 points, and NCAA Division II Tiffin was second with 109 points.
  • In Division III, Ohio Wesleyan won with 60 points, and Ohio Northern was second with 62 points.
  • Wilmington's Faith Duncan was first overall and in Division III in 21:17.

  • The Cardinals had seven runners finish in the top 177 overall in the 314-woman field.
  • Scarborough placed fourth overall and second among DIII in 22:38.
  • Senior Alyssa Mattis placed 56th overall and 19th among DIII in 24:39.
  • Freshman Brenna Lay placed 59th overall and 20th among DIII in 24:41.
