Men's Soccer takes an early lead to take down Franklin (Ind.)

FRANKLIN, Ind. —The Otterbein men's soccer team defeated Franklin (Ind.) on Saturday evening, claiming an early 3-0 victory with three different players each contributing a goal to the win.

The Basics
  • Records: Otterbein (4-3-0 overall), Franklin (0-6-1 overall)
  • Venue: Faught Stadium - Franklin, Ind.
The Game
  • Otterbein jumped ahead just five minutes into the game with an early goal. Nick Isaac beat around his defender, setting up Drew Holman, who evaded a sort of slide tackle from a Franklin defender to score the game's opening goal.
  • The Cardinals found the net in the 20th minute after being awarded a free kick. Following a quick pass to Isaac, he delivered a cross into the goal box from the corner, where Drew Boettcher executed a one-touch lob to score.
  • With just over five minutes left in the game, Isaac managed to slip through the defense as the goalie advanced forward, he was able to score the final goal.
  • The two teams combined for a total of 25 fouls, with the home team receiving two yellow cards.
  • Otterbein took 17 shots, with seven of them on target, while the Grizzlies were limited to only six shots in total.

  • In his eighth season with the program, Otterbein head coach Jason Griffiths now holds an overall record of 85-35-12.
