Baum receives third OAC Athlete of the Week honor

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Sophomore Emerson Baum has been named the OAC Offensive Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, as announced on Monday afternoon. The accolade comes on the heels of a 2-1 week for the No. 20 Cardinals, going a spotless 2-0 in conference play.

In just three sets against Wilmington, Baum totaled 10 kills and hit at a .556 mark. Helping Otterbein earn the win against the Quakers, she did not commit one attack error and added two blocks in the match.

Her biggest game of the week came in Friday's four set victory at Muskingum. She floored a career-best 22 kills, leading all players in the contest. Baum wrapped up her solid week Saturday, contributing 13 kills in a five set loss at Wittenberg.

Baum ranks second in the OAC in hitting percentage (.340), third in kills (206), and second in total blocks (73).

The volleyball team will travel to Ohio Northern on Wednesday. Game time against the Polar Bears is scheduled for 7 p.m.
