Football falters at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – On Saturday, the Otterbein University football team suffered a 69-13 setback at the hands of Heidelberg University.

After the Berg scored on its opening drive, Brayden Bayles returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for an Otterbein touchdown. The kickoff return was the second for a touchdown this season by the Cardinals, as Zane Duning returned one for 95 yards against Baldwin Wallace. Braylon Balandra's PAT was good, tying the game at 7-7.

Heidelberg had built a sizable lead by halftime, as Otterbein's second touchdown came in the third quarter. A 40 yard pass from Duke Corley to Bayles put the Cardinals in Heidelberg territory, and two plays later he connected with Owen Menge for 19 yards to the HU 2. Christian Pataky found the end zone with a 2-yard rush to cap off the Otterbein scoring.

Damar Anderson led the Cardinals defensively with nine total tackles.

Next Saturday, Otterbein heads to Hanover for a 1:30 p.m. non-conference game.
