Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

No. 23 volleyball rolls past Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Making quick work of Case Western Reserve, the No. 23 Otterbein volleyball team won in straight sets over the Spartans. With one game to play in the regular season, the Cardinals improved to 22-4.

Junior Lexi Scott was terrific, leading the Cardinals with 14 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Scott committed zero errors on 28 swings for the match. In the win, Elise Adelman totaled 30 assists, while Ashley Kefauver's 15 digs led the Cardinal defense.

In the opening set, the Cardinals erased a 12-6 deficit, slowly chipping away at the CWRU lead. As the teams traded leads throughout the set, with the score knotted at 20 Otterbein utilized a 5-0 run to win the set. Four different players recorded kills in the run, along with Grace Ganz firing off a service ace.

The Cardinals held the lead for a majority of the second set. Despite the Spartans cutting Otterbein's advantage to 18-16, an error from the hosts, a block and an ace off the hand of Emma Steiger inflated the lead back to five points. Steiger led all players with a career-high four aces in the victory. A solo block by sophomore Chandler Crowell sealed the win, 25-17 in the second set for the visitors.

Otterbein broke out to an early lead in the third set and never looked back. In commanding fashion, the Cardinals took the final set, 25-13 as an Emerson Baum ace sealed the win. Baum added nine kills and four total blocks to her stat line.

On Wednesday, Otterbein closes out the regular season with a 7 p.m. game at John Carroll University.
