Ratliff, Thormeier headline cross country awards

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University cross country teams were well-represented in the Ohio Athletic Conference specialty awards, as announced on Thursday morning. Payne Ratliff, Kate Thormeier and the coaching staff were all recognized by the league. 

Ratliff won the Men's Runner of the Year award following his OAC Individual Championship campaign. The senior turned in a terrific final season on the course, running to First Team All-OAC accolades with a 25:21.1 in the conference meet. After placing fourth at the NCAA Regional Meet, he went on to qualify for the Division III Cross Country Nationals. 

Thormeier earned the Women's Freshman of the Year honor after taking third at the OAC Championships. Running to First Team All-OAC status in the conference race, she finished with a time of 22:33.0.

The coaching staff earned Co-Coaching Staff of the Year accolades on the men's side. Head coach Matt Sutton led the men's team to the OAC Championship, alongside Director of Cross Country/Track and Field, Dara Ford. The men's team won with a team score of 40, 25 points better than the runner-up.
