WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein women's basketball closed out the Smokey Ballenger Classic on Tuesday with a 69–32 win over Mount Aloysius inside the Rike Center. The Cardinals improved to 9-3 overall after forcing 27 turnovers and converting those opportunities into 28 points.
Junior guard Anna Waskiewicz was named Player of the Game after setting the tone on both ends. She finished with eight points, five rebounds, and five steals, helping Otterbein establish its tempo early and generate consistent transition looks.
Otterbein settled in after Mount Aloysius scored first, quickly answering with a three from junior Abby Rawlings. The Cardinals leaned on second-chance opportunities to gain control, with Waskiewicz scoring four points during an early stretch as Otterbein built a 14–10 lead after one.
The separation came in the second quarter. Otterbein strung together stops and pushed the pace, building a double-digit margin behind buckets from junior Kyla Irby and sophomore Kadence Conley. Irby capped the half with a layup in the final seconds, sending the Cardinals into the break up 35–17.
Mount Aloysius opened the third with an early push, but Otterbein responded with timely shots to maintain momentum. A three from Rawlings and a late fast-break from sophomore Madilyn Stechschulte finish helped the Cardinals extend the advantage to 50–28 heading into the fourth.
Otterbein closed the game with a strong final quarter, holding the Mounties to just four points while continuing to move the ball efficiently. Freshman Cameron Sparks opened the quarter with a jumper, and the Cardinals finished the afternoon with 19 assists and 19 steals.
Irby led Otterbein with 13 points, while sophomore Mattie Walburn added 11 points and three steals. Sparks posted a game-high of 12 rebounds, and Conley chipped in six points on a pair of three-pointers.
