Logan Ullom provided the heroics with a walk-off home run to give the Otterbein baseball team a 9-8 comeback victory over Bluffton on Wednesday. With a five-hit game, Ullom surpassed 100 career hits, and freshmen
Calvin Mabry and
Daniel Uhl also hit home runs in the game for the Cardinals.

Otterbein Stat Leaders
- Ullom led the Otterbein offense with five hits, including the home run, to go with two RBIs and three runs.

- Bluffton built a 5-0 lead through the first three innings highlighted by a solo homer in the top of the first inning.
- Uhl started the Cardinals' comeback with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- The Beavers extended their lead to 6-2 with a run in the top of the sixth.
- An RBI single from Taylor and two-run homer from Mabry brought Otterbein within one, 6-5, in the bottom of the sixth.
- Bluffton again extended its lead, getting an RBI single and RBI walk for an 8-5 edge in the top of the seventh.
- A 2-RBI triple from Mabry put the Cardinals back within one, 8-7, in the bottom of the eighth.
- Gruver gave up one walk in the top of the ninth but had an otherwise clean outing, inducing two strikeouts and a flyout to keep the deficit at one.
- In the bottom of the ninth, senior Max McCann was hit by a pitch with one out, and graduate student Caden Kirker was inserted as a pinch runner. Kirker stole second with two outs and Ullom at bat, and the senior delivered in the clutch with the walk-off two-run homer to left-center field.
- Otterbein out-hit Bluffton by an 11-10 margin. Otterbein committed four errors to Bluffton's none.
Notables
- Named the OAC Player of the Year and CSC Second Team Academic All-America in 2024, graduate student Jamie Perebzak ranks fifth all-time at Otterbein in hits (210), fourth in doubles (47), 11th in home runs (20) and third in RBIs (175).
- Ullom has 101 hits, 24 doubles and 46 RBIs in his Otterbein career. He has a team-high 29 hits and eight doubles this season. His home run was the third of his career.
- Uhl's home run was the second of his career, and Mabry's homer was the first of his career.
- Taylor has a team-high 18 RBIs on the season.
- Head coach George Powell is in his 26th year at Otterbein and has an all-time record of 617-428-1 at the helm of the Cardinals. He is a six-time OAC Coach of the Year honoree and has coached the Cardinals to three OAC regular-season championships and six OAC Tournament titles.
