Graham tallies 5 goals as Men's Lacrosse falls at Adrian (Mich.)

ADRIAN, Mich. — Fifth-year senior Max Graham led the way with five goals as the Otterbein men's lacrosse team fell 18-10 at Adrian (Mich.) on Friday.

The Basics

Otterbein Stat Leaders
  • Graham added five ground balls to his five goals, which came on 14 shots.
  • Junior Zach Mulligan scored two goals.
  • Sophomores Andrew Lewis and Jack Regruth posted matching stat lines of three points on one goal and two assists.
  • Senior Nathan Lewis scored one goal, and fifth-year senior Aidan Moore tallied one assist.
  • Senior Luke Farthing played all 60 minutes in goal for Otterbein and recorded 11 saves.
  • Junior Sam Becker won 11 of his 17 faceoffs.
Game Highlights
  • First Quarter: Otterbein tallied the first score of the game when Graham found the back of the net on an assist from Regruth just 48 seconds in. But Adrian had a huge answer in the form of a 7-0 run to take a 7-1 edge with 2:55 left. Nathan Lewis ended that run with a goal assisted by Regruth with 1:06 remaining before the Bulldogs capped the scoring in the period with a goal with 27 seconds left to take an 8-2 lead into the second frame.
  • Second Quarter: The Cardinals scored first in the second quarter courtesy of a goal from Andrew Lewis. After an Adrian goal, Graham scored his second goal of the game with 7:31 left, but the Bulldogs answered with two consecutive goals for an 11-4 lead. Graham secured his hat trick with 3:02 left, scoring on an assist from Andrew Lewis, to send Otterbein into halftime trailing 11-5.
  • Third Quarter: Regruth opened the scoring in the second half to get Otterbein within five, 11-6. Mulligan answered a Bulldog goal with one of his own, assisted by Moore, with 10:50 remaining, but Adrian scored the next two goals for a 14-7 edge. Graham scored his fourth goal of the game with just 42 seconds left, sending the Cardinals into the final period down 14-8.
  • Fourth Quarter: The Cardinals scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter. The first came from Graham, giving him five for the game, just 36 seconds in. The second came via Mulligan, assisted by Andrew Lewis, for his second score of the contest. Leading 14-10, the Bulldogs closed out the game with four straight goals en route to the 18-10 win.
  • Key Team Stats: Adrian out-shot Otterbein by a 43-42 margin, and the Bulldogs finished with a 33-28 edge in ground balls. Otterbein won 16 of the 30 faceoffs. Otterbein had 22 turnovers to 17 for Adrian.
