GETTYSBURG, Pa. – In dominant fashion, the Otterbein University volleyball team earned a pair of sweeps in the squad's season opener. Receiving votes in the preseason AVCA poll, the Cardinals knocked off Bridgewater and Messiah in straight sets.

Sophomore Emerson Baum was spectacular, finishing with 15 kills and a .483 hitting percentage. In addition to her team-leading 15 kills, Baum contributed a team-high five total blocks in the win.

With eight kills apiece, Maddie Mergen and Lexi Scott were critical to the Otterbein offense. Sophomore Chandler Crowell tacked on seven kills in the middle.

In her Otterbein debut, Elise Adelman dished out 18 assists and finished with 15 digs. Also tallying a double-double was senior Olivia Vitaz with 16 assists and 10 digs. Juniors Ashley Kefauver (12 digs) and Makenzie Schellenberger (10 digs) also totaled double digits.

GAME TWO: Otterbein 3 Messiah 0
