WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein women's basketball stayed rolling Wednesday night, defeating Wilmington 74–42 inside the Rike Center. The Cardinals secured their fourth straight win, improving to 13–4 overall and 7–1 in OAC play.
Otterbein set the tone early, opening the game with a quick 8–2 burst and controlling the tempo from the start. The Cardinals poured in 25 points in the first quarter and followed with 24 more in the second to take a commanding 49–21 lead into halftime.
Two Cardinals finished in double figures, led by Mattie Walburn's 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Kyla Irby followed with 16 points after knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while Cameron Sparks controlled the interior with 10 rebounds to go along with six points. Kiara Hudgins added seven points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a well-rounded effort.
Wilmington showed fight coming out of the break, edging Otterbein 11–10 in the third quarter while holding the Cardinals to just 10 points. Despite the brief lull, Otterbein maintained control and carried a 59–32 advantage into the final period.
With the lead firmly in hand, the Cardinals closed the game strong in the fourth. Otterbein finished with a 46–29 rebounding advantage and received a big lift from its depth, as the bench contributed 33 points in the win.
Otterbein returns to the road on Wednesday, January 28, traveling to Berea to take on Baldwin Wallace in OAC action.
