Luther scores twice, MLAX falls at Albion

ALBION, Mich. — Taking on the defending MIAA Champions, the Otterbein University men's lacrosse team was unable to keep pace with Albion College, falling to the Britons 15-5.

Albion broke out to a 3-1 lead after one quarter and never looked back, building to a 7-2 advantage by halftime. After the Brits scored the first three goals, the Cardinals got on the board with a strike from Max Luther. In the second, Jack Regruth found Zach Merrill for Otterbein's second goal of the half.

Out of the half, the teams traded goals, with Otterbein's coming from senior Zach Mulligan. Albion ended the quarter on a 3-0 run to hold a sizable lead going into the fourth quarter. The Cardinals scored their final two goals in the final period, thanks to Regruth and second from Luther.

Albion controlled the faceoff X, winning 15 of 22 faceoffs. The Cardinals limited the Brits to convert just one of eight EMOs, but Otterbein was held to a 1 of 5 mark on extra man opportunities at the other end.

Sam Becker and Matthew Reader led Otterbein, picking up three ground balls apiece. In goal, Zach Courie made 12 saves and picked up three ground balls for the Cardinals.

Otterbein returns to action on Wednesday with a game at The College of Wooster. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
