Baseball wraps up Myrtle Beach trip

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – It was a tough ending to the Spring Break trip for the Otterbein University baseball team, falling 12-2 to Immaculata University.

Both of Otterbein's runs came off the bat of freshman Geoffrey Siess. Trailing 3-0 in the fourth, Jack Barber led off the inning with a single. Nolan James reached on an error and the pair moved into scoring position after a successful sac bunt by JT Gels. Two batters later, Siess drove in the pair with a double to left, Otterbein's lone extra base hit of the day.

Immaculate immediately answered, erupting for four runs in the bottom of the frame. The Mighty Macs scored runs in six of the seven innings, including a 4-spot in both the fourth and seventh innings.

Barber was 3 for 4 on the day, accounting for three of the six Cardinal hits. The Cardinals' offensive struggles continued, leaving 12 runners on base. The Cardinals committed four errors in the loss, as the Mighty Macs scored four unearned runs in the contest.

Otterbein will play a single game at John Carroll University on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
