WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein fell in both games of their first homestand on Saturday afternoon to visiting Marietta. The Cardinals fell by a 14-1 deficit in game one before being held off the board in the second game, 7-0.
Game One – Marietta 14, Otterbein 1
Otterbein grabbed an early lead Saturday at Fishbaugh Field, but Marietta responded with a steady offensive surge to hand the Cardinals a 14–1 setback.
The Cardinals scored in the first without a hit, as
Cam Fisher reached on a walk and later came home on a passed ball. Otterbein was limited to one hit the rest of the way, a second‑inning single from
Caleb Bond.
Marietta used a four‑run third inning to take control and continued adding insurance across the middle and late frames.
Nick Mealey worked six innings for Otterbein before the bullpen covered the final three.
Game Two – Maretta 7, Otterbein 0
The Cardinals collected five hits, including doubles from
Nolan James and
Daniel Uhl, and saw three different players swipe a base. Otterbein put runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings but couldn't push a run across against Marietta starter Luke Czarnomski, who worked 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts.
On the mound,
Maverick Rabe battled through 4.2 innings, striking out seven before the bullpen covered the remaining frames.
Riley Abrams,
Sam Sethna, and
Brady McClain each recorded outs in relief, with Sethna delivering 1.2 scoreless innings to close the day.
Defensively, Otterbein turned a pair of double plays and limited Marietta to single runs in the early frames before the Pioneers added separation with a three‑run seventh.
Otterbein will play a single game against Mount St. Joseph University on Tuesday, March 24. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
