CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Otterbein University track and field teams opened the outdoor season over the weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic, turning in multiple personal-best performances across the three-day meet.
Senior Charlie Dolliver led the way on the women's side with a strong all-around showing. She recorded a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles (14.76) to place 13th, added a ninth-place finish in the triple jump with another personal-best mark of 11.34 meters, and competed in the long jump (5.37m).
In distance events, senior Rachel Ziel posted a personal best in the 10,000 meters, finishing ninth with a time of 40:27.97. Sophomore Kennedy Helton (42:41.76) and sophomore Eliza McDonald (42:44.66) followed in 14th and 15th, respectively.
Junior Abby Kobs placed 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:48.35, while junior Ava Stratmann added a personal best in the 5,000 meters (19:06.20).
In the field events, freshman Brianne Miller cleared 3.00 meters to finish fifth in Pole Vault Group B. Freshman Addy Westbrooks matched that placement in High Jump Group B with a mark of 1.53 meters.
On the men's side, junior Richmond Honkpo highlighted the weekend with a third-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 7.08 meters.
The Cardinals also saw a strong showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, where junior Brady Pugh finished fifth (9:51.65) and sophomore Tucker See followed closely in sixth (9:55.95).
Junior Izaac Swope competed in the 110-meter hurdles, recording a time of 14.82, while freshman Connor Reifenberger placed second in Pole Vault Group B with a clearance of 4.28 meters.
Otterbein will return to action Saturday, March 28 at the Denison Lid Lifter in Granville.
