Otterbein earns multiple first-place finishes at Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein University track and field teams competed Saturday at the Denison Lid Lifter, turning in multiple top-five finishes across both the men's and women's sides.

In the field events, the Cardinals saw strong performances in the throws and jumps.

Freshman Lisbon James placed third in the discus with a mark of 42.29m, while junior Landry Driskel led the women's side with a first-place throw of 41.46m. In the hammer, sophomore Anastasia Smith finished fourth (42.14m), moving into fifth on Otterbein's all-time list. Junior Amelia Dailey claimed first with a throw of 44.61m, moving into third on the program's all-time list. Smith also claimed a first-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.87m.

In the vertical jumps, sophomore Joab Bockstoce tied his personal record to finish second in the high jump (1.97m), while freshman Addy Westbrooks also placed second on the women's side (1.51m). In the pole vault, freshman Connor Reifenberger recorded a personal-best 4.44m to take second, with junior Joe Hill placing fourth (4.14m) and freshman Mimi Wegener finishing fourth (3.29m).

In the horizontal jumps, sophomore Jaret Harting won the long jump with a mark of 6.51m. Junior Gabe Scialdone placed second in the triple jump (11.77m), while sophomore Carlisha Bell led the women with a first-place mark of 9.93m.

On the track, Otterbein posted several strong finishes in distance events. Junior Brady Pugh placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase, while sophomore Tucker See claimed the win. In the 5000m, junior Corey Rafferty finished third (15:40.84) before Caleb Rafferty took first (15:32.32). Freshman Kate Thormeier added another victory on the women's side, winning the 5000m in 17:54.69 to move fifth on the program's all-time list.

Sophomore Brenna Lay also recorded a second-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (12:10.05). In the 1500m, junior Ava Stratmann ran a personal record of 4:53.38 to place fifth.

In sprint and hurdle events, freshman Quintin Conrad placed fifth in the 400m (51.70), followed by a second-place finish from sophomore Jack Van Fossen (50.84). Sophomore Mallory Bostick added a fourth-place finish in the women's 400m (1:03.69), while sophomore Macy Etienne placed fifth in the 100m (14.05).

Freshman Jackson Steider finished third in the 110m hurdles (15.98), while junior Izaac Swope won the event in a personal-record 14.78, remaining ninth on Otterbein's all-time list.

In the 400m hurdles, freshman Logan Smith placed second (57.63) and sophomore Marquez Whitehead followed with a personal-record 55.42 to take first.

Otterbein closed the meet with a win in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Grant Hartley, Van Fossen, Whitehead and Conrad finished first in 3:26.56. The women's 4x400 relay team of Gigi Leiter, A. Westbrooks, Sienna Westbrooks and Bostick posted a time of 4:18.27.

Otterbein returns to action next weekend at the Wooster Invitational, scheduled for April 3-4.
