Volleyball Earns Split at Colorado Tournament

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO - Otterbein (3-2) earned a split at the Colorado College Molten Pikes Peak Challenge, winning two games and dropping two others this past weekend.

Day one saw the Cards fall in four games to LaVerne by scores of 20-25, 25-10, 10-25, and 15-25. Sophomore Ally Nagle led the team with ten kills on 21 attempts in the contest.

Otterbein rebounded in its second match of day one, turning back Illinois Wesleyan in three games by totals of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-13. Nagle and senior Rayna Coleman combined for 22 kills while Annie Juenger and Kelly Montgomery each tallied six.

Setter Lydia Wynkoop dished out 21 assists in the match while Lindsey Russell totaled 20 digs.

The Cards kept the momentum going into the early portion of day two, dropping Carleton (MN) in three straight games by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-15. 

Coleman and sophomore Kristen Bennett each registered nine kills in the match with Wynkoop and sophomore Lizzy Flynn teaming for 34 of the squad's 37 assists. 

The group concluded its weekend with a competitive loss to host and fifth-ranked Colorado College by scores of 25-18, 25-19, and 25-14.  

Russell had 18 digs over the three games while Juenger pitched in with 11. 

The team earned a second-place finish overall while Nagle and Coleman each earned spots on the All-Tournament team.

Otterbein returns to competition September 10-11 at the Kenyon Tournament in Gambier, Ohio, opening against Kenyon and OSU Marion on Friday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
