Box Score

WESTERVILLE, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s basketball team moved to 7-11 on the season and 3-8 in conference play with a 79-65 victory over Ohio Northern University Wednesday in the Rike Center.

With the loss, the Polar Bears drop to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Otterbein was clicking on nearly all cylinders offensively to begin the contest, jumping to a 10-0 lead and finding themselves up 17-3 after a three-pointer from Maggie Allard at the 13:47 mark.

Down 24-9, Northern stormed back on a 16-3 run over the next three and a half minutes to draw within two, at 27-25.

The Cardinals, however, withstood the momentum and sprinted on a 21-5 run over the next six minutes to take a commanding 48-30 lead before settling for a 50-37 lead at the break.

The 50-point output by Otterbein in the half was just four fewer points than the ONU average for ppg. allowed.
Ohio Northern closed the deficit to 55-48 by the 12:57 mark of the second half, but Otterbein quickly pushed the lead back to double-digits and took a 68-54 advantage with under nine minutes to go after a three-pointer from Shea McCoy.

The Polar Bears would get no closer than eight the rest of the way.

McCoy turned in game-highs of 23 points and six assists while junior Kristi Kotterman turned in an all-around performance with 17 points, ten rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Hannah Day and Maggie Allard chipped in 16 and 12 points, respectively, while Brooke Robbins came down with ten rebounds.

Jeanne Bockey and Morgan Dumbagh combined to score 43 of ONU’s 65 points.

The Cardinals held a 14-0 edge in fast-break points and shot .455 from the field compared to just .324 for the visitors.

The team stays at home throughout the remainder of the week, hosting Marietta College Saturday evening at 5 p.m. The Pioneers handed Otterbein a 68-64 loss back on Dec. 11.
