Cardinals Fall in Double OT at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Otterbein University men’s soccer suffered a tough 2-1 double overtime loss at Muskingum University Saturday, falling to 0-2-1 in league play.

The Cardinals now sit at 4-6-1 overall as a result, while the win moves the Muskies to 4-5-3 this fall, 1-2 against league foes.

The host Muskies struck first, using a header goal off a throw in to take a 1-0 advantage less than seven minutes in. Otterbein responded almost immediately, tying the match with a goal from senior Aaric Milligan in the 15th minute.

The match went into halftime tied 1-1, and remained locked throughout the second half as the contest headed for overtime.

Muskingum’s Austin Tourville would prove to be the difference maker, scoring less than two minutes into the dsecond overtime session for the win.

Muskingum finished with a slim 27-25 shot advantage, including a 11-5 edge on goal.

Otterbein goalkeeper Kyle Ripma registered nine saves in goal while Muskie goalie Hunter Hoffman had four.

Otterbein stays on the road to begin next week, traveling to Ada, Ohio Wednesday afternoon for an OAC matchup against 13th-ranked Ohio Northern University. Starting time is set for 4 p.m.
