Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University women’s basketball tallied its 10th-consecutive win Saturday afternoon, turning back visiting Baldwin Wallace University, 77-48, inside the Rike Center.

The winning streak, which started back on Dec. 22 at Baldwin Wallace, matches a program record since women’s basketball began Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play in 1984. The 2003-04 squad also rattled off 10-straight victories.

The win also keeps Otterbein (16-3, 10-2 OAC) locked in a second-place tie in the league standings with the University of Mount Union, 58-45 winners at Capital University Saturday afternoon.

Hannah Day
Otterbein jumped out to an early 17-7 lead after five-plus minutes of action, and later extended the lead to 29-16 after a three-pointer from senior Hannah Day at the 10:44 mark.

The Yellow Jackets attempted to regroup with a timeout, but Otterbein remained in control the rest of the half en route to a 47-29 halftime cushion.

The Cardinals bumped the margin to 21 points early in the second half, but the Yellow Jackets continued to battle and trailed by just 13, at 54-41, with 12:00 showing on the game clock.

Otterbein, however, would prove to be too strong in widening the lead down the stretch and securing the win.

Day led Otterbein in scoring for the eighth-straight game, finishing with 21 points on 8 of 15 shooting from the floor. She also added a game-high nine rebounds.

Rachel Snedegar scored 16 off the bench while sophomores Madi Miller and Chelsea Reed chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. Reed also finished with seven assists, six of them coming in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Otterbein shot .466 from the field, but made just 16 of 27 attempts at the free-throw line.

Jessica Lairson scored 11 points to lead BW, which struggled against Otterbein’s defense. The Jackets shot just .327 from the field and made 3 of 23 three-pointers.

Otterbein enters a crucial week ahead, traveling to play No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern University Wednesday evening before hosting Mount next Saturday in the Rike.

The Cards suffered a pair of early-season losses to the two schools back in December.
