Box Score 2 WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University women's volleyball tallied a split at the BSN River City Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Marietta College, narrowly falling in its opener before bouncing back with a win to end the day.
The Cardinals (8-9) suffered a tough five-set loss to Case Western Reserve University in the first outing, falling 19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 13-15.
Three Otterbein players posted double-digit kills in the contest, led by a match and career-high 19 from senior Kendel Kellogg, who was set 57 times throughout and tallied a double-double by coming up with 15 digs. Kim Barker and Maddy Shelley added 16 and 13 kills, respectively, with Barker finishing with an even .300 hitting mark.
Senior libero Evelyn Carus had 33 digs while classmate Kayla Radekin dished out 35 assists from her setter position.
Otterbein bounced back with a four-set win over Bethany College (W Va.) to conclude the afternoon, winning 25-17, 20-25, 25-15, 25-17.
Barker hit .429 against the Bison, going for 11 kills and just two errors on 21 total attempts. Freshman Megan Volosin added nine kills while Kellogg registered seven. Otterbein's defense limited Bethany to hitting just .035 over the four games.
Otterbein, 1-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, will return to league action Tuesday evening with a 7 p.m. match at Capital University. The Cards held off a pesky Crusaders squad to win in five sets last year in Westerville.
