Box Score

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Otterbein University men's soccer team picked up its second win in a row in a 6-2 road victory over Bluffton on Saturday.

The Cardinals, now 2-3-1 on the young season, recorded a trio of first half scores to Bluffton's one, before Noah Coons tallied a pair of second half scores to extend the lead.

Otterbein's scoring run was jumpstarted in the first minute of play by Reid Wolfe, who scored off a shot from the top of the Beavers box.

Francisco Marty then added to the Cardinals lead late in the sixth minute, tallying his first goal of the year on a shot from the far right wing, coming off an assist by Costa Poulias.

With a 2-0 advantage intact, Nate Norris scored in the Bluffton box in 14th minute, extending the Cardinals lead off an assist by Josh Kellner.

Bluffton then responded with its first goal of the game four minutes later, as Jake Headings tapped in his first goal of the season to chip the deficit to two goals.

The Cardinals entered halftime with a distinct advantage in shots at 14-4, while also holding a 3-1 margin in corner kicks.

Bluffton cut the Otterbein lead to one goal in the 78th minute on a Cardinal foul in the box, resulting in a penalty kick goal by the Beavers own John Eckenrode.

Just over a minute passed before the Cardinals notched a pair of scores, as Coons netted his first goal of the year on a close shot from the left wing, followed by Ross Pfeil's second score of the season off an assist by Wolfe inside the Bluffton box.

Coons then added his second goal of the game in the 84th minute, scoring unassisted on a shot from the far right wing.

Otterbein enjoyed a healthy advantage in shots at 25-8, including a 14-5 margin in shots on goal. Mack Stamper picked up the win in goal, saving a pair of shots in 85 minutes played.

The Cardinals return to action Sept. 24 against Mount St. Joseph. First kick is slated for 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
