Final Results
HOLLAND, Mich. – The Otterbein University women's cross country team placed fifth overall at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Saturday morning, which was hosted by Hope College at the Ottawa Golf Club.
The Cardinals, ranked No. 21 in the latest national poll, took fifth-place out of 31 teams for their second-straight top-10 finish in the event. Otterbein will have to wait until Sunday to see if it receives an at-large bid as a team to the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19.
Calvin topped the field with a team score of 90, placing four runners inside the top-20 to outpace second-place Allegheny by 30 points. Hope, the host school, placed third overall with a score of 128, with fellow Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponent John Carroll finishing in fourth-place with a 167.
Three Cardinal competitors captured All-Region honors in the meet, led by sophomore
Claire Lamb who secured a spot in the NCAA's for the second-straight year after placing fourth overall out of 232 total runners. Lamb's time of 21:47.6 helped the Cards post a score of 169, topping sixth-place Oberlin by 19 points.
Senior
Julissa Poullet also collected All-Region honors, crossing the finish line at 22:45.4 to take 28th-place. Classmate
Alex Winter followed close behind in 31st-place, finishing at 22:51.5 to earn All-Region accolades.
Sophomores
Heather Sandvik (23:12.5) and
Katy Foltz (23:13.7) continued their strong season after checking in two spots apart from one another, placing 52nd and 54th, respectively.
Rounding out the Cards was freshman
Allison Currey, who checked in with a time of 23:37.7 to place 67th overall, and sophomore
Kira Judd, who placed 105th at 24:20.8.
