Box Score BEXLEY, Ohio – The Otterbein University women's basketball team upset No. 20-ranked Capital, 55-53, on a last-second shot Saturday afternoon inside the Capital Center.
Otterbein (13-10 overall) has now won five-straight games and improves to 8-8 in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play. The Cardinals now sit alone in fifth place in league play with two games remaining in the regular season.
Sophomore guard
Abby Miduri led the Cardinals in the opening half with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including a 5-of-9 mark from behind the arc. Otterbein trailed 13-10 after one quarter and were behind by as many as 10 points midway through the second quarter.
A three-pointer by Miduri with 19 seconds left in the first half cut the Cards' deficit to five points at 29-24, capping off a 9-4 scoring run to end the period.
Both teams struggled to score in the third period as a combined 10 points were tallied. Four different players for Otterbein accounted for its four made field goals in the quarter, including sophomore forward
Kiersten Taylor who gave the Cards their first lead since the opening period on a jump shot in the paint with 29 seconds left.
Freshman guard
Dani Kissel opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to give Otterbein its largest lead of the game at 35-31. The Crusaders scored four of the next five baskets to regain the lead at 42-39 with 6:14 remaining, before a 6-0 scoring run by Otterbein catapulted the Cards to their own three-point lead.
Miduri recorded her first point of the second half on a free throw with 2:48 left to play, tying the game at 46 points apiece. Capital did not regain the lead for the remainder of the game, tying the score twice over the final two minutes of play.

Amariah Huck took the initial shot for the Cards with two seconds left, but Taylor rebounded Huck's attempt and spun the ball off the glass for the score with less than a second remaining.
Miduri was held to three points in the second half, but ended with a game-high 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Kissel and Huck followed with nine points and seven rebounds apiece to pace the team. Cartnal added seven points and three rebounds, while Taylor finished with six points and tied a career-high with 10 rebounds.
Both teams struggled from the field, as Capital narrowly edged the Cards with a 33.3 percent mark from the field. Otterbein connected on 10-of-12 free throws, continuing the team's impressive shooting from the charity stripe.
