Golf Teams Sweep ONU over Spring Break in Arizona

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Otterbein University men's and women's golf teams each picked up a win over Ohio Northern at Moon Valley Country Club on spring break last week.

The Cardinal men's squad improved to 5-0 on the season after defeating ONU, 8.5 - 2.5, while the women's team posted its initial first-place finish with an 8-3 victory. It was the second-straight year in which both teams picked up wins in the Cardinal-Polar Bear Challenge.

Both teams played in the Ryder Cup format, which consisted of best ball, alternate shot and singles matches with each one equaling a point. The format is new to NCAA Division III in 2016, but has been played across other divisions in recent years.

The two programs were also invited for an inside look from PING, one of the leading golf club manufacturers in the world. Full results from the two-day challenge will be posted on the schedule page of the respective teams once they are compiled.

The men's squad returns to the course against Mount St. Joseph on March 19-20 at Aston Oaks in North Bend, Ohio, while the women's team takes on ONU on Apr. 2-3 at Colonial Golf Club in Harrod, Ohio.
