WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal volleyball team remained perfect in Oho Athletic Conference (OAC) play Tuesday night on its home floor, easing past visiting Wilmington College in straight sets.
Otterbein, improving to 21-2 on the season and 4-0 against the OAC, emerged by scores of 25-13, 25-7, 25-21 to remain in sole possession of first place in the league standings.
The Cards slowly pulled away to claim the first set, using a 19-6 scoring run during the frame and settling into an early advantage. Freshman
Dasha Bruyako came off the bench and registered four early kills in the opener.
Wilmington (4-16, 0-4 OAC) won two quick points to begin the second, but Otterbein countered with a 10-0 run behind the serve of junior
Hadley Sterett and never looked back. Classmate
Kalyn Schroer then came off the bench to later in the frame to serve another 10-straight points, all part of a 24-4 spurt.
The third set was locked at 6-6 before a lengthy delay to situate a lineup-rotation protest. Both sides eventually returned to the court and traded points as the game unfolded.
Two Cardinal miscues allowed the Quakers to draw even at 21-21, but Otterbein responded with four-straight points to culminate the evening. Senior
Morgan Lowenkamp turned in another strong showing up the middle, going 12-1-18 for a .611 hitting percentage.
Sterett, the reigning OAC Player of the Week, had eight digs and seven kills while Bruyako added eight points of her own on the outside. Setter

Taylor Belcher in the third, who accounted for another 12 helpers.

Ashlyn Leon added 10 digs for a balanced Cardinal effort that hit an even .300 collectively while holding Wilmington to a -.023 for the contest. Ariel Goforth and Taylor McCuiston had six kills each to lead the opposition while Morgan Householder had a match-high 12 digs.
Otterbein will stay at home to round out the week, hosting Heidelberg University at 3 p.m. come Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals just missed cracking into the AVCA national rankings this week and are currently listed second in the "Others Receiving Votes" category. Click
