WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's basketball team notched its seventh-straight victory on Wednesday night with a 63-45 defeat of Wilmington in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action inside the Rike Center.
The Cardinals (14-8 overall) improve to 10-5 in conference play having held opponents to under 60 points in four games over the current win streak including back-to-back contests with the opposition scoring less than 50 points.
Otterbein is also credited with wins in seven of its last eight games with its last loss coming nearly a month ago against Baldwin Wallace. The most recent team in program history to win more than seven games in-a-row is the 2012-13 squad which posted 10-straight victories.
Otterbein got off to a strong start from the field and on the defensive end by outscoring Wilmington 15-6 in the opening period, as junior
Ali Cartnal scored seven of her game-high 17 points in the frame. The Quakers were held to just three field goals in the quarter due large in-part to five turnovers.

Abbie Scholz less than two minutes into the second quarter gave the Cards their first double-digit lead of the night at 19-9, before an 11-5 scoring run jolted them even further ahead to a 16-point advantage with just over a minute left in the half on a jumper by sophomore
Delaney Cutteridge.
After shooting 47 percent in the first half the Cardinals took their 33-19 lead into the third period and, despite outscoring the Quakers by just one point in the frame, entered the final 10 minutes with a 45-30 lead in hand.
Otterbein twice went ahead by 19 over the final 10 minutes of play, proving to be its largest lead of the night. The Cards finished the game shooting 42 percent from the floor with 18 points off turnovers.
Cutteridge followed Cartnal in the scoring column for Otterbein with 10 points off the bench, now her third time in the last four game reaching double-figures in scoring. Junior
Dani Kissel followed with nine points, while Scholz and senior
Kiersten Taylor combined for 12 points and 16 rebounds.
The Cardinals will eye their eighth-straight win on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Muskingum in search of splitting the season series with the Muskies. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
