JEROMESVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's golf team placed second place at the Wooster Invitational, as Abby Grospitch finished sixth overall by shooting a 162.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Cardinals had three players finish inside the top 11 out of 95 golfers.
• Grospitch led the team with consistent rounds of an 80 on day one and an 82 on the second day. Freshman Lyndsay Blum finished the invitational with a 166 by shooting rounds of 82 and 84.
• Meg Thomas had a strong showing for the Cardinals by shooting an 81 on day one and finished one stroke back of Blum for the weekend.
• Viv George was the only Cardinal to improve on day two, as the weather played more of a factor on Sunday. The freshman shot an 89 for the first round before improving by seven strokes on the second day.
• Maddie Durbin rounded out the Cardinal five by shooting two rounds of 86 to finish tied for 18th overall. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• All five of the Cardinals finished inside the top 20 out of the 95 player field. 
• Otterbein finished second overall and was 15 strokes back of Denison, as Mount St. Joseph placed third at the invitational and was 13 strokes back of the Cardinals.
• Thomas averaged 88.1 strokes per round heading into the Wooster Invitational, as the sophomore shot under 88 in both rounds. 
• Last time Otterbein finished second at the Wooster Invitational, the Cardinals won the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Spring Championships and clinched the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. 

UP NEXT:
The Cardinals will be off until the end of the month when the team will participate in the OAC Spring Championships at River Greens Golf Course. In the fall, Otterbein won the OAC Fall Preview by 51 strokes and are in search for its first conference title since 2015.
