SUNBURY, Ohio - The Otterbein women's golf team placed first at the annual Cardinal Classic, as freshman
Lyndsay Blum led the way for the Cardinals by finishing tied for fourth overall.
Otterbein ended the weekend by shooting a 679, as Capital finished second with a team score of 683, as Ohio Northern, 716, and Marietta, 754, rounded out the bunch. The Cardinals led the Crusaders by four strokes after day one of the event and both squads shot the same score on day two.
Blum shot an 84 on each day to finish with a total of 168, as
Abby Grospitch finished one stroke back of her teammate with rounds of 84 and 85.
Maddie Durbin placed seventh overall by shooting a 170 for the weekend.
Abby Chilcoat finished with a 172 and improved by four strokes on the second day of the event, as
Meg Thomas rounded out the Cardinal five by finishing ninth overall with rounds of 88 and 85.
Viv George tied Blum for the best score by a Cardinal, as she competed as an individual.
Ashley Hayes finished the weekend with a 191 as an individual.
The Cardinals will compete in the Wooster Invitational at Mohican Golf Course next weekend, as the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships will take place at the end of the month at the River Greens Golf Course.
