Creed Brothers Win NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. – Former Otterbein University star Drew Kasper (Brutus Creed) and his brother, Jacob (Julius Creed) achieved a notable step in their professional WWE careers Tuesday night.

The emerging duo, known as The Creed Brothers, won the seventh-annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as part of NXT brand… which airs/competes Tuesday night's on the USA Network.

Beginning in 2015, the annual tournament was established following the death of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes. The format was recently condensed to eight tag teams after originally launching with 16.

Nevertheless, The Creed Brothers took the bracket by storm in sweeping through a trio of opponents… all coming by pin. They opened with a victory over Brooks Jensen and Josh Briggs in a time of 5:33, then followed by pinning Grizzled Young Veterans at the 12:01 mark.

The championship showdown culminated this week against MSK, featuring the well-known duo of Nash Carter and Wes Lee. Approaching nearly 10 minutes of action, Julius used his clothesline finisher to secure a final pin that allowed the brothers to hoist the trophy. WATCH HIGHLIGHTS HERE

As a result of their triumph, they earned a future NXT Tag Team Championship match for the title against Imperium.

Kasper was a 2x All-American for the Cardinals, posting a college record of 108-13 that included a 62-2 mark after moving up to heavyweight as a junior. He stood a perfect 30-0 toward the end of his senior season (ranked No. 1 in the country) before the NCAA Championships were abruptly canceled due to the pandemic.

Jacob was also a 2x All-American on the college scene, starring at Duke, while also making the same jump from 197 pounds to heavyweight midway through his career.

NXT serves as a "farm system" for the WWE, founded by the McMahon family and holding over 450 live events per year with a roster divided into certain brands.
