Shore wins title at Tiffin Open, launching Women's Wrestling's inaugural season

TIFFIN — Senior Olivia Shore made history as the first Otterbein women's wrestler to win her weight class during the team's inaugural competition at the unscored NCAA Division II Tiffin University Open on Saturday. 

The Basics Otterbein Individual Results by Weight Class

103 - Shore claimed victory in her weight class, starting with a win by fall over Gabriela Hotaj of Rochester Christian in just 41 seconds. Shore then defeated Avery Gaskalla (High School) by technical superiority. In the championship match, she secured the title with a fall over Jeulenea Khang from West Liberty at 1:25.

103 - Freshman Kellie Kennedy was eliminated in the quarterfinals by technical fall, losing 10-0 to Riley Banyas from Campbellsville, which sent her to the consolation bracket. In the first round of the consolation, Kennedy won by technical fall over Lexis Heidlebaugh from Tiffin University (10-0). In the consolation semifinals, she secured a victory by fall against Avery Gaskalla (High School) in 3:30. However, in the third-place match, Jeulenea Khang from West Liberty defeated Kennedy by fall in 2:46. 

110 - Freshman Rylee Touhalisky secured a fall victory over Audrey Miracle from Clyde in 5:18. In the quarterfinals, she was pinned by Julia Snyder of Rochester Christian in just 49 seconds. However, in the consolation bracket, Touhalisky bounced back with two fall victories: first over Callie Helton of Baldwin Wallace University in 38 seconds, and then against Kiley McNerney from Campbellsville in 2:49. In the consolation semifinals, Gabrielle Medeiros from Campbellsville won by fall over Touhalisky in just 26 seconds. In the fifth-place match, Julia Snyder once again defeated Touhalisky by fall, this time in 1:49.

124 - Freshman Madison Sheehan received a bye in the first round but was defeated by Abby DiCenzo of Baldwin Wallace University, who won by fall in 42 seconds. In the consolation bracket, Sheehan had another bye before facing Morgan Leonhardt (High School), who won by fall in just 29 seconds.

124- Freshman Emmy Caton achieved a 12-2 technical fall victory over Raelie Hernandez of Bluefield State. She later faced Malia Burkhardt from Campbellsville, who won by fall at 2:50. Caton fought her way through the consolation bracket but was ultimately defeated in round five by Addison Rudolph of Campbellsville in 43 seconds. 

138 - Freshman Izzy Samczuk was defeated by technical fall, 10-0, against Lauren Walton from Campbellsville. In the consolation round, she fell by technical fall again, with a score of 12-1 to Akira Jones from Indiana Tech.

207 - Sophomore Marvet Hejazin secured a fall victory over Payton Burmeister of Alma College at 4:42. In the quarterfinals, however, she was pinned by Allison Ott (High School) in 52 seconds. In the consolation bracket, Hejazin was defeated by Alexis Bilka-Durdon of Tiffin University, who won by fall at 2:05.
