TIFFIN, Ohio – Led by a good majority of points in the field events, Otterbein worked its way to a fifth-place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships over a two-day visit to Hoernemann Stadium.
Heidelberg, serving as meet host, welcomed all ten institutions from around the league in the annual spring gathering. Ohio Northern won the team crown going away, with Mount Union nestling in second.
DAY 1 RECAP
TOP FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals got rolling early on Friday in the high jump behind standouts Alexis Weber (champ) and Emma Klosterman (runner-up), who separated from the pack as things progressed in front of a nice crowd. Weber cleared 1.69 meters (5-6 ½) and then barely missed a few times at 1.72, looking to regain the top spot nationally. Amanda Radke enjoyed a breakout day herself to clear 5-1 ¾ and settle fifth, gaining another four points.
Â
- Weber then immediately turned around and corralled another entire handful (5) of points in the triple jump, posting a best mark of 36-2 and taking fifth.
Â
- Ravyn Goodson placed tenth in the hammer throw at 131-2, a new PR that gets her into the top five in program history.
Â
- Otterbein chalked up points in both Friday relays, beginning with the 4x1 taking fifth to begin the running portion at 2:30 p.m. Olivia Finke, Assir Yisrael, Tashe Lee and Weber teamed to run 50.47 seconds.
Â
- Then, to culminate the action, the 4x4 group of Finke, Yisrael, Rachel Bollo and Genevieve Legawiec ran 4:04.97 to hit the podium as All-OAC performers in third. That ranks as the ninth-fastest result in program history.
Â
- Sarah Scarborough scored a point by taking eighth in the 1500 meters, going around in 4:47, while Legawiec was also eighth in the 400 hurdles.
UP NEXT:
A handful of select Cardinals will be taken to "Last Chance" meets with hopes of qualifying (or improving qualifying marks) for the upcoming NCAA Division III Championships.
