BEXLEY, Ohio – The Otterbein men's soccer team came away victorious in the Battle for the Oar Saturday night, earning a 3–1 road win over rival Capital to keep the oar in Westerville.

The Cardinals found themselves trailing early after Capital scored in the 10th minute. Otterbein answered quickly, however, as senior Nick Isaac lined up a free kick from 15 yards out in Capital territory. Isaac's ball curved toward the goal, where sophomore Will Meilstrup connected with a header into the right corner to tie the match at 1–1.

The second half belonged to Otterbein. In the 56th minute, Isaac controlled a pass near the 20-yard line and sprinted down the right side before sending a cross into the box. Freshman Lincoln Wallace was there to tap it home and give the Cardinals a 2–1 advantage.

Otterbein sealed the win late when Isaac delivered a corner kick from the left side in the 84th minute. Senior Patrick Ahrens rose above the defense to nod it into the net, extending the lead to 3–1.

Freshman goalkeeper Jayden Burdine made his first career start, playing all 90 minutes and recording three saves. The Cardinals dominated statistically, outshooting Capital 24–8 and holding a 9–1 edge in corner kicks.

With the victory, Otterbein retains the Oar and adds another chapter to the storied rivalry.
